Armidale Facility (Australia)

The headquarters of VHR is located on a 2 hectare facility in the rural city of Armidale in northern New South Wales. Our office / laboratory complex houses 20 staff and we offer other facilities including;

  • A purpose built Diagnostic Laboratory (with gross pathology, parasitiology and microbiology) and post mortem room;
  • Three hundred hectares of open grazing paddocks;
  • Purpose built animal houses;
  • Indoor sheep and cattle pens (including over 100 individual sheep pens and individual cattle pens);
  • Several feedlots and cattle pen facilities;
  • Research piggery;
  • Poultry broiler and laying sheds;
  • Purpose built dog facility (see below)
  • and companion animal research services (cats & horses) offered through alliances with other groups.

Wongaburra Research Centre (Australia)

This state of the art, canine research facility was established in 2008 and is located in northern NSW, Australia. VHR closely liaises with clients to fulfil the requirements of their small animal research programs and provides a quality assurance framework overseeing the work performed at this facility.

The aims of Wongaburra Research Centre are to;

  • Generate high quality data in GCP efficacy and bio-equivalence studies;
  • Provide GLP accreditation enabling conduct of safety studies;
  • Generate data suitable for regulatory submission in Australia, Europe and the USA;
  • Provide a sub-tropical environment ideal for ectoparasite studies;
  • Provide several common parasite species including paralysis ticks, brown dog ticks and fleas;
  • Provide a self replacing colony of dogs.

Hamilton Facility (New Zealand)

  • Laboratory and technical support for the conduct of production animal studies to GCP and GLP standards
  • Located adjacent to the Ruakura Research Centre in Hamilton
